In his decade-long career as a recording artist, singer and multi-instrumentalist Sam Amidon has always managed to create work that’s utterly original, even when, on previous discs, he was digging through the sounds and stories of traditional American music from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
His album Lily-O was labeled "A hauntingly beautiful new album" by the New York Times and Pop Matters called it "a thing of beauty and wonder, bold and strong".
Amidon's latest album The Following Mountain was released in May 2017 and is his first album of original compositions.
Amidon has appeared as a guest artist on albums by Tune-Yards, Glen Hansard, Mx Justin Vivian Bond, Olof Arnalds, The Blind Boys of Alabama, The National's Grateful Dead Tribute Day Of The Dead, and others.
Anne-Marie Sanderson's voice is evocative of birds in flight - soaring, gliding, swooping - and it finds its home among the tall trees of her deft guitar work. Describing Anne-Marie's distinctive indie-folk music in these terms is apt; she is an artist who casts a careful eye and attentive ear to the natural world, alternating between wide-eyed wonder and wry observation.
