Catch The Wind Kite Festival 2014
In Morecambe we are blessed with beautiful views across Morecambe Bay and lots of fresh sea air. And on a couple of occasions every year, the tides, winds and weather come together to create the perfect conditions for flying kites. Lots of them. In all shapes and sizes. So we like to celebrate.
And so, Catch The Wind is our annual festival on Morecambe seafront, and for the whole day the skies are full of the most spectacular shapes and colours and people come from all around to join in and watch. And where there are people, we know it's good to have music so we set up a stage in front of The Platform (Morecambe's old railways station, now a venue), with a great view of the iconic Midland Hotel and showcase some fantastic local artists. There are stalls, workshops, arts activities and much more.
In addition to the incredible kites filling the sky, this year we have fantastic entertainment from the Baybeat Streetband, Astral Circus, Flying Colours and Gary Bridgens taking place throughout the day plus lots of great live music. There will be a number of food and drink vendors to tempt you plus lots of arts and craft activities to enjoy, both inside and outside the Plattform. Urban Square is new for this year, have a go at rapping, beatboxing, graffiti and DJing.
In additional to all the great live music, there will be regular activities in the Astral Circus tent in front of the Platform for all ages. The timetable is:
