West End Festival 2016
Regent Park, Regent Road, Morecambe
The West End Festival celebrates its 21st year this June as it returns to Regent Park in Morecambe on Saturday 25 June from 12noon-4pm. The free community festival celebrates the best of the local community and is a great afternoon for all ages.
The festival first began in 1995 and has gone from strength to strength. This year there will be three live music stages featuring diverse styles of music from local musicians and bands. The Melodrome Stage will feature Retrospective from Ludus, Youth Orbit, the Guests, Alice Ashcroft, The Black Eyed Suzies and more. The Folk Corner will have performances from Avant Deux, MM Folk Group and the Long Walk Chinese Orchestra plus maypole workshops. The Melting Pot Open Mic Stage will give anyone the chance to share their musical talents.
There will be information about iMap
, an ambitious project to link artists to the West End community and map the different ways we are all connected worldwide. For example, where does our food come from, our electricity and water, what part of the world did it come from to find its way here? There will be interactive workshops, performances of songs from the project, a photography exhibition in the café and a parade of wearable infrastructure.
In addition, there will be arts and crafts workshops, stalls from local charities and community groups, facepainting and more.
