'Songs for Christmas' workshop

Festive favorites  from Sufjan Stevens's EPs

Fri 5 Dec, 2pm-6pm
Lancaster Arts Partners and More Music are presenting a concert featuring eight of Sufjan Stevens’ Songs for Christmas at the Friends Meeting House on First Friday 5 December 2014 and we need musicians and singers to join the performance and give it a local flavour.
You'll be making a band in a day so it will involve four hours afternoon rehearsal from 2pm until 6pm in the Reading Room at the Storey followed an hour long gig at 7pm at the Friends Meeting House on Meeting House Lane. The workshop is FREE, the gig will be ticketed and costs £5/£3. All sounds wanted – there will be music in advance (CD or score) or you can just turn up and play. The rehearsal and gig will be led by inspiring musician/composers Hugh Nankivell and Dean Broderick

Matchless independent artist Sufjan Stevens – renowned for aiming to write an 50 albums each encapsulating a state of America - has written, arranged and released 10 albums of Christmas Songs and made them available for others to play with a creative commons license.

Hugh Nankivell and Dean Broderick have chosen the songs offering a range from the sublime "Christmas in the Room” to the ridiculous "Come On Let’s Boogie to the Elf Dance” which they will provide arrangements for.
