The Baybeat Streetband is looking for new members to help celebrate More Music's 20th anniversary. The carnival streetband is one of More Music's longest running projects and has included over 500 different people over 20 years.

Starting on 7 May and running every Tuesday from 7pm, all ages are welcome to take part and learn new tunes, grooves and entertain on the streets. Baybeat is looking for drummers and percussionists as well as brass and wind players. You'll learn simple, catchy Brazilian carnival songs, seaside melodies, hip hop tunes and fun arrangements.

This year, More Music is honoured to welcome North West carnival supremo Leon Patel of Global Grooves to drive the rhythm forward and share his expertise. There are gigs already booked across the North West and you are welcome to take part in as many as you like.

Rehearsals take place at the Hothouse, Devonshire Road, Morecambe on Tuesdays from 7pm until 9.30pm (May 7, 14, 21, 28 and June 4, 11, 18, 25) and each session costs £3. Email to book your place.

Baybeat is also looking for dancers to lead the parades. Sessions take place at Ludus Dance Studios in Lancaster on Thursdays from 7 until 8pm (May 9, 16, 23, 30 and June 6, 13, 20, 27). Contact to book your place.
