People Walking

Sometimes  two people walk together
Down the streets of their own city
With no weapons but the truth

Sometimes  one hundred people walk together
Down the streets of their own city
With no weapons but the truth

Sometimes  ten thousand people walk together
Down the streets of their own city
With no weapons but the truth

Adrian was a great walker and protester on demonstrations in London over many years. This was the inspiration for this lyric and the song that developed is steady and simple with a ground bass that is also the melody. It has a power and an energy that I believe we need to tap into at times of crisis when collective action is so essential. Whether that is signing petitions, marching on Parliament, writing to politicians, volunteering for NGO's or just talking with our neighbours and friends.

So please come along on March 3rd and 4th to share this music, these thoughts and celebrate the vital role that Human Rights play in our world. Where are they being broken? Where aren't they being broken? How many people share our views? How many people have a passion for community action, social responsibility and the sharing of resources and power?

Every day the news wakes us up with more stories of strange happenings in the world on our doorstep and unless we talk and share our feelings we can continue to feel isolated and alone. Over 2 years ago I was in Hong Kong when the Umbrella Revolution was taking place and the solidarity and power of the people was so inspiring. There was all the traditional protesting, occupations and speeches but then alongside there was an outpouring of creativity - songs, posters, installations, films and photography amplified the protest and made it visible to the world.
Come and talk with us and share this music and song.
See you at START AGAIN.
