In Morecambe we are blessed with beautiful views across Morecambe Bay and lots of fresh sea air. And on a couple of occasions every year, the tides, winds and weather come together to create the perfect conditions for flying kites. Lots of them. In all shapes and sizes. So we like to celebrate.
And so, the Catch The Wind Kite Festival is our annual festival on Morecambe seafront, and for the whole day the skies are full of the most spectacular shapes and colours and people come from all around to join in and watch. And where there are people, we know it's good to have music so we set up a stage in front of The Platform (Morecambe's old railways station, now a venue), with a great view of the iconic Midland Hotel and showcase some fantastic local artists. There are stalls, workshops, arts activities and much more.
Have a look through the Gallery on the right to see photos from previous years' fantastic events.
