We know that the benefits and pleasures of music in our lives can start at a very young age. In our Clapping Song sessions we focus on building confidence and language skills and strengthening bonds between children and their parents or carers. Our Music Leaders will demonstrate instruments and teach songs from all over the world and as children progress they'll learn how to make a band with a wide range of percussion instruments.
Throughout the sessions expect to sing both new and familiar songs, including name songs, nursery rhymes, finger rhymes and action songs. And because movement and action are so important for children's development we include lots of games that are fun as well as educational, for example, musical obstacle courses, musical relay races, silly song writing and action stations. One of our most popular activities is Clear Moon Quiet Water, an interactive performance following Billy, a fisherman, on a journey to find food for his family.
What's it like?
Here's what other participants had to say:
"This is my granddaughter’s favourite group. We sing and play her favourite songs at home and she now takes a greater interest in music in general."
"My son’s speech is a bit behind and it has come on leaps and bounds since coming to this group. It was recommended to me and I can’t speak highly enough of it.”
Perhaps you know of or work at another school or children's centre and would like to bring our music leaders in to work with your young people? Have a look at at our offer for the education sector or get in touch today; we'll be very happy to explore different options with you.
